24hours with Fifi, Graphic designer of Pawjourr & Woof Agency

Fifi the senior dog reporting for work!

8am: The most annoying alarm awakened me from my slumber. Waking up is a slow process for me and I require at least 3 alarms to do the job.

To exercise my brain before the start of a new day, I had to solve a maths question before my alarm could be turned off. Fifi is still soundly asleep on my sister’s pillow and I will sneak out of the room to prevent waking her up.

9am: After washing up and preparing Fifi’s meal for the day, it’s time to leave home for work. Fifi would still be sleeping as her morning walk is usually managed by my family. Thus I could leave home in peace, without feeling guilty looking at her puppy eyes. With her in their care, there is no doubt that she will have another pawsome day ahead!

10am: I reached our small, cosy office and settled into my office chair. What I love about working with The Woof Agency is that there is a lot of freedom and autonomy. I can decide on the project to work on as long as I complete them within the dateline.

After conducting my morning ritual of setting up my laptop and browsing through our project management platform for a glance of my workload, here I go!

At times, the design team will also help the other departments with packing the supplies when it gets too overwhelming for them. Teamwork and collaboration at its finest.

1pm: Chow Time! My favourite time of the day. Even though the office is in a busy office area, the queue for food is usually not as long as we expected. That’s probably because our lunchtime is slightly later than most offices around.

The economic rice lady on the ground floor of our office building is really friendly and there is a lot of good food around — fried rice and mookata to be specific. Sometimes, if we are extremely busy, we might even order delivery or stay in the office to eat from our office pantry.

Nevertheless, lunchtime is always a great time for bonding with your colleagues.

2pm: Back to work! A part of my job is also to browse for relevant content which we can apply to our brand. This is also my favourite part of my job as I get to look at adorable pet pictures and videos. Once I find an idea for the projects I am working on, I will return to making magic.

3pm: Sometimes the marketing team needs to discuss or brief us about the upcoming projects. This is the best time to regroup and discuss as everyone would have been past their food coma phase of the day.

4pm: The golden hour is the best time to take photos and videos with natural sunlight. Sometimes, we will take some product photos for our social media platform. Whenever a dog comes to the office for a visit, we will also do photoshoots for them and create social media postings with them as our model.

5pm: At this timing, we are engrossed in our own work and it gets quiet. All I can hear is the music from our Google Home speaker and sounds of my colleagues snacking on the pantry food. Nearing our end-of-the-day meeting, it’s also time to clean up the work completed today and review it for updates.

6pm: We have a Work-in-progress (WIP) meeting everyday after work where we update on the projects that made progress. Usually, it’s very quick unless there are discussions about topics that involve the whole team like office decoration. After WIP, it’s time to finish up or continue the work which I’ve left.

7pm: Sitting on the bus and passing by the city area which had quietened down post-office hours is a blessing which I embrace daily. The view and city lights bring me peace after a long day at work.

8pm: The moment I reach home, it is dinner time. I take the chance to watch some Netflix shows or catch up with some trending topics while I have my dinner. Time for myself is really precious due to the busy schedule.

8.30pm: Right after dinner, Fifi sat by my side and stared longingly at me. I knew what she had been waiting for — her night walk. She then ran to the kitchen to get her harness before doing zoomies a few rounds around the house. What energy for a 13-year-old senior dog!

Welcome back, hooman!

This is also where I think about how my alone time is mostly spent with Fifi as she refuses to return home if her walk is shorter than 1.5 hours. Being a dog-loving person, I usually give in to her resistance to head home. However, making her happy makes it all worth it!

10pm: The moment we reach home, it is a rush again. I washed her feet, gave her treats for being such a good doggo and brushed her teeth before preparing to head out.

11pm: Healthy living is a choice. I head out to the nearby community gym for my bi-weekly routine.

1am: Upon returning from the gym, I felt hungry and boiled an egg to refuel my energy. Then it’s time to wash up before winding down for the day.

3am: It’s now in the middle of the night and I am starting to doze off. Time to head to bed! Tomorrow will be a new day for me to work, gym and repeat.

Working in a start-up can be tiring but extremely rewarding. If you are the type who loves working in a high-paced environment and loves pets, you are in luck!

We are hiring for a few positions — check them out here.
